The Annual Shaka Easter Soccer Tournament returns to showcase the best of the best in local soccer clubs. Talent from all over the city comes together to compete in a legendary competition to walk away with the grand prize of R250 000 and be crowned The Shaka Easter Soccer Tournament Champions.

The Shaha Easter Soccer Tournament shines a spotlight on up-and-coming gifted football players, ranging in teams in all categories including u/13, u/17, Women, Masters and Open. The Shaka Easter Soccer Tournament has partnered with local legends such as Lucky Lekgwati, Edward Magents Motale, Josta Dladla, Katlego “Killer” Mphela and gives an opportunity to budding and gifted football players to showcase their talent and validate their dreams of becoming the next big star of South African football. The tournament also plays an important role in the grassroots development of the sport in and around The City of Tshwane – especially in areas with a pool of talent but minimal opportunities and facilities to nurture the potential that is there.

Our Objective

Our main objective is to restore the pride of local communities which are hard hit with substance and drug abuse, gender based violence and alcohol abuse which is cutting across the generations.

TALENT

We Identify sports talents in young people and give them a chance at making a career of it even after the tournament.

EDUCATION

We engage young people in physical and moral education (life skills and peer education) with a view to reducing crime rate, drug abuse as well as the fight against HIV/AIDS and early marriages/pregnancies

COMMUNITY

We build friendship ties with stakeholders as well as other sports oriented agents across the globe by participating in both national and international tournaments, exchange programs, work camps and activities that promote friendship, tolerance and fight against racism and all forms of discrimination.

Creating a community and sustainable annual tournament in order to develop football sporting activities in the region.

Our Contributions

We fight poverty, illiteracy, crime and other malpractice behaviours within specific communities by way of earning a living from sporting activities.

We spent more than R30 000 in December 2021 by providing Xmas food parcels to at least 32 registered NPOs in and around Soshanguve. We are also daily dealing with locally-based student and community structures that ask for various forms of assistance, from transport to attend conferences in other parts of the country to helping with leaking roofs during rainy days.
The Shaka Easter Soccer Tournament is part of a bigger picture and an annual event where we highlight our existing programmes and future plans to attract relevant strategic stakeholders to take our organisational objectives to the next level.

Our social cohesion programmes, which include the Inaugural Shaka Easter Soccer Tournament last year and the second edition in April 2022 resulted in building shared values among these communities, reducing crime against the students who are usually not from the area, and generally enabling people to have a sense that they are engaged in a common enterprise, facing shared challenges, and that they are members of the same community.
